Principal's Managerial Coaching For Developing Vice Principal Leadership In School Accreditation Coordination

This study aims to examine the role of the principal in developing the leadership of the vice principal as the accreditation coordinator through managerial coaching at SMP Negeri 4 Dayun. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of school accreditation activities. The results of the study indicate that the principal plays a strategic role as a coach who applies a transformative and collaborative approach by providing strategic direction, constructive feedback, and direct involvement in the accreditation process. This coaching has a positive impact on improving the managerial competence, self-confidence, and responsibility of the vice principal. Despite challenges such as time constraints and administrative burdens, the principal was able to maintain the consistency of the process through flexible time management. This study confirms that managerial coaching is an effective strategy in developing internal school leadership, especially in the context of accreditation implementation. These findings recommend replication of the coaching model as part of sustainable development in other educational institutions.

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran kepala sekolah dalam mengembangkan kepemimpinan wakil kepala sekolah sebagai koordinator akreditasi melalui coaching manajerial di SMP Negeri 4 Dayun. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap kegiatan akreditasi sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah memainkan peran strategis sebagai coach yang menerapkan pendekatan transformatif dan kolaboratif melalui pemberian arahan strategis, umpan balik konstruktif, serta pelibatan langsung dalam proses akreditasi. Coaching ini berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan kompetensi manajerial, kepercayaan diri, serta tanggung jawab wakil kepala sekolah. Meskipun terdapat tantangan seperti keterbatasan waktu dan beban administratif, kepala sekolah mampu menjaga konsistensi proses melalui pengaturan waktu yang fleksibel. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa coaching manajerial merupakan strategi efektif dalam pengembangan kepemimpinan internal sekolah, khususnya dalam konteks pelaksanaan akreditasi. Temuan ini merekomendasikan replikasi model coaching sebagai bagian dari pengembangan berkelanjutan di institusi pendidikan lain.
